So Long Target!

Well, it is official, the Target near my location has officially closed down by the end of today.

A few days before they announced that all the Target stores in Canada were closing, my friend told me that we were putting may too much effort into a store that is closing. I laughed because I thought it was a joke, I thought even it was true it wouldn't happen yet because all I was hearing was how well we did with sales during Christmas time.

But then a day or two after I get a text from my other friend telling me that we're closing! I couldn't believe it and turned on the news and there it was.

It was fun at first when we found out because people were really laid back, taking it easy, taking "selfies," but when the closing date came closer and the percentages went higher and people started to leave, everything went down hill.

People started to get new jobs and left so we were people short for the trucks that were still coming in. We were getting too much stock and now where to put it. It was just starting to hit some people that we were about to lose our jobs so they were really depressed and sad. But I think the most stressful, annoying, unbelievable part was the customers. They were so bad I'm not even going to call them guests.

People were upset that the percentages were not higher when we first announced closing but that was to be expected, you start small and then slowly make your way higher (we gotta make some money...)  Our systems went haywire! Which wasn't our fault and we tired our best to fix but the customers wouldn't understand. For every 10 horrible customer, if your lucky, you get 1 nice one.

One girl that worked in electronics got spat at because there was a TV that was not on sale (it was either not on sale, or a display TV or something was wrong with it) and the guest so mad with her that her spat at her, it missed but that's not the point. His intention was to spit at her!

There was also a power outage and a customer came in asking "why is the power out?" We didn't know why, we were joking saying that we didn't pay our hydro bill plus in the area where the Target was the power has gone out there before. Told the customer we didn't know and he was mad that we didn't know. He said we should know, we work here....

When we finally sold everything (a day early) we got a notice that we would be getting more stock from another location! So mad because we could have been out of there a day early but had to take on another burden from another store! It seemed fishy to me because they had it sorted out and perfectly planned...

We went through so much hardship, pain, anger and frustration and didn't deserve any of this. There are no words to describe how grateful I am towards Target. It was my first job and helped out my family so much. When my Mom was sick and wasn't working, thank God my Brother and I were able to help pay the bills. And I was more than happy to do it.

I'm going to miss my co-workers so much, some of the guests that were really nice and understanding, and my friends. It was a great experience for me and I have seen and learned so much and have grown. I could not be more grateful.

So long, farwell...I hate to say goodbye Target. And with that I close a chapter of my life.
