Theatre Etiquette
Happy New Year everyone! With 2017 wrapped up, I think I've gone to the theatre enough times to write a post like this. This might be a little bit of a rant, fair warning. I'll try to keep it in good taste.
Time for people to recognize! The theatre is not your house! It is not your bedroom! You want that kind of treatment, that kinda space!?! Then pay up and go to the VIP theatres! There is no way I should be seeing your shoes or SOCKS for that matter hanging over my chair, the one beside me or any other chair for that matter! We don't know where those shoes have been or where you have been walking and on top of that, no one likes the smell of butter popcorn and rotten feet...
Speaking of feet...
I'm think I'm starting to appreciate the theatres more that don't have the back recline seats...
I get the point is for them to "recline" but I shouldn't be seeing half of your body extended infront of me, that's pushing it. Nor should I constantly be feeling a kick behind my chair.

If I can recline my chair I will, not for the whole movie but at times but I don't go far like some people and have my whole back stretched out but literally a few cm or so yet apparently it's still to much for some people
There are at least two warnings before the movie starts for people to either put their phone on silent or to put your phone away because people don't wanna see the brightness of the phone screen...
SO WHY is it so hard for people to follow those simple rules?! If you MUST look at your phone then at least make SOME effort to hide the light! The people that just have it right infront of their face! Like people beside, behind, across, 3 quarters behind can see it!
It is the most annoying thing in the world! This person did it when I was watching Dunkirk, took me right outta of the movie, this other lady did it when I saw Jumanji and she was playing solitaire! This teenage girl kept on doing it when I saw the The Greatest Showman and you can bet your bottom dollar I did not let it slide! People need to recognize.
Not only phones though...those watches that light up...
Nope not talking about the old school ones that glow in the dark, those are sick and I wouldn't mind those,
Nope I mean the watches that are literally a phone screen themselves! Turn those things off! Or again look at in your lamp not above your head! If you must look at your watch every 10 minutes then you probably shouldn't be at the theatre, get your timing right!
Speaking of timing...
If you arrive the movie late, don't think the movie is going to pause and start for you to find a seat. Also don't make a spectacle about it. I understand that things happen and coming late happens but at least people could be little more discreet about it or find a theatre employee to help you find a seat that won't be distracting to the audience.
Again this happened while watching Jumanji, this family of four walked right in late, crossed the screen twice and came in and out to get food...argh...

Going to watch movies as frequently as I do now, I honestly don't believe I did my job when I was working there and on floor, when I checked the auditoriums I should have been more thorough, no distractions. I appreciate the theatre so much for escape, to let anyone experience anything less but the price they paid is kinda criminal.
Sssiiiiggghhhh.....
With all that being said, going to the theatre can actually be really fun. During my time at school, going to the theatre on Friday nights were my 2 hours of getting away from everything. It was me time and honestly I have to say some of the most I had outside of school. Not only that but depending on the movie and depending on the audience, laughing together at certain scenes, clapping after each song sung, dead silence during some scenes, it's that kind of experience I think everyone needs to experience that just once in their lifetime and if possible at least 3-4 times a month.
I'm watching another movie tonight.
Anything I missed? I probably did so please let me know!
I know this is not the kind of post I probably "should" post as it is the new year, I'm done school, have promised I would post about school and have promised I would post more movie reviews but not gonna lie, I want to but not like this anymore. I had a really inspirational conversation with a good friend, one of my best friends the other day and it has really motivated me to...start doing videos instead.
So look out in the future for written posts here and there but also videos. I was getting ready to start recording today but the lighting where I'm at is so bad...you can't see me. It's like a horror movie!
But anyways look out for those.
