War for the Planet of the Apes - Movie Review
Pretty sure I just saw the best movie of the year!
This review will have SPOILERS but come on, it's been out for weeks now you have no excuse.
First let me begin by saying Wade (my laptop) kinda...crashed... So it's out for repairs so I'm without my baby for a couple of weeks, I'm telling you, don't know what you have until it's gone...anywho I'm writing this review on my phone.
First I don't think I saw any trailers for this movie, if I did I honestly don't remember any of them plus I didn't see dawn so I honestly didn't know what I was getting into with this movie except for the fact that I heard the visuals are stunning!
And BY GEORGE are they! Like geeeezzz!! I swear if I didn't know any better those apes were REAL!!! Between Andy's performance and the visual effects artists... beautiful, beautiful relationship, that combination is flawless!
Speaking of Andy!
Cesar!!!!
Dunk me in icing and call me a kangaroo! The way my attention was just fixed on him in every scene was just...!
I truly believe I wasn't watching an animal, that thing was all human! And by the end I was crying. Everytime Cesar spoke I got goosebumps, it's like how I feel when I hear Optimus talk in Transformers, the two movie characters I would follow into battle no questions asked !
Alright let me calm down, because the other apes are great too! Maurice, Lake, the new one with the big eyes and vest! Dead! Loved him!
I saw this movie last week Friday so I had quite a bit of time to think about it and why I liked it so much...
If you have seen Passion of the Christ and Gladiator I wanna say you've seen this movie because there are definitely some similarities in there! Take this in...
Cesar's a leader...apes follow him...
He decide to go on his own to fight but then some of his fellow "disciples" followed
He gets lashes for protecting the weak ape
He's tied to an X looking cross
Gets shot/stab in the side
Leads his apes to the "promise land" (I'm not calling it anything other than that cause that's what it is!)
He dies

Nuff said.
It just reminded me so much of both movies that I equally enjoyed. Like at the end when Cesar dies I was like, "go to them Ceaser, go home" I say them because this oldest son and wife gets killed... gosh this movie was brutal
I'm not even gonna talk about the humans cause truthfully I didn't care. Again another movie where I cared more about the non human characters. Not to say they aren't sympathic, I mean that little girl eventually called Nova I liked her and some people might get why Woody's character did what he did but I still wasn't a fan. I guess that means he did a good job acting if I didn't like his character and you really aren't suppose to...
Let me just say this...if you go to see this movie for a legit WWII war, you ain't gonna get it. It's not that kinda movie. Better to go see Dunkirk for that (I did and it was beautiful)
This was the best movie I've seen so far, there are movies that I have seen but didn't review, like Dunkirk and Spiderman (I started the reviews and it apparently didn't save so I didn't bother to start over cause I was SO close to being done I cried..my fingers killed typing those!)
It would be a miracle if Andy wins an Oscar for this movie, gosh knows I want him too but this movie better win an Oscar for something! Music, cinematography, visual effects, something! This movie was just beautiful all around!
I highly suggest seeing this if you haven't already and if you haven't seen the second one like me all you need to know is Kobu, this ape did some major damage in the last one and plays a part in this movie!
Hopefully I'll get Wade back soon cause I wanna do a review about school, kinda about time for one now so fingers crossed 爛
